Hello everyone, I need an advice about what to do with my broken S2T75 Summa Cutter.
I bought the machine brand new in 2017 (for about $7k with 2 years warranty) and I only used it for iron on vinyl every other day for couple of hours, I maintained it on a regular basis, I only changed the blade once and hoping to have that machine at least 5 more years without any issue since it costs more than 3 times of other known brand cutters.
I was cutting a iron on vinyl 2 days ago and smelt like burnt rubber and started to cut unevenly and ruined the vinyl. Then I started to get "machine unable to find the knife home position" error.
I called the airmark tech support and I was told to changing the cutting head could solve the problem and it would cost me about $2k if I change it by myself. And also I was told usually people change the cutting head every 10 to 20 years.
I don't have any backup machine since I trusted Summa based on the reviews I've seen on internet, now they ask me to pay $2k to fix by myself, they also can't promise changing the head would be the solution.
Would you sell the Summa as is and get some relatively cheap machine or would you replace the head .
Also if I list the machine as is would somebody buy despite it needs to be fixed?
