Looking to get into Dye Sublimation

I currently own 2 quick printing/copy shops and I am looking to possibly get into dye sublimation and offering "1 Of" products. Anything of larger quantity I currently outsource but thinking about offering dye sub products to get the business from those only looking for 1-2-3 or so maybe more items but not enough to meet the minimums of my vendors or pay the price.

What is a good printer to start out with? I know blankdogtag.com has been mentioned to purchase inventory from but I am looking for advice from those in the business not from those that sell to those in the business if you know what i mean.

Thanks

Mike

Our parent company does sublimation and we sell sublimation supplies. We recommend the Ricoh printers. They seem to have less clogs than the Epsons and to be a little more forgiving.

I have t-shirt company I am still needing help with sublimation. I would love to get into other things but now sure i know ink is not cheap? What is the best way to start off when getting into sublimation.

Have you considered a digital ceramic system instead? It prints true ceramic images that once kiln fired never fade, are hard as nails and resist scratching and abrasive wear the same as true commercial ceramics. It won't make tee shirts but if you want to enter commercial end uses such as tile, tableware, memorial portraits for cemetery markers, custom signage, decerated bath and plumbing fixtures, gift ware etc etc it's the only way to go. No more fear of customer complaints about scratches and fading of sublimation images on ceramic materials.

It's an option.

Mike,
I have been in the digital dye sub business for almost 8 years. I have been doing the one off's as you described. I have also helped several people get into large format digital dye sub printing. I would be happy to talk to you and see where I could help.
