Hi, newbie. Going to trade show in Atlantic City and wonder about SWF machines. I understand they cost a little less than some of the others but are thet as dependable? From what I read Barudan or Tajima seem to be the best. Also, is it best to buy multi head machines (4-6 heads) over 1 when starting? It seems many of the machines can be networked therefore start with one and add on as biz develops. Starting from scratch but my other business is in the awards and recognition industry and I have over 7000 customers so naturally I'll work that group first for embroidery.
Re: SWF machines any problems
Although I went with Tajima SWF was my second choice. Are you near the SWF training center in Shrewsbury (central) NJ? If so you should see if you can attend training classes before you purchase. That will give you a feel for the machine and software. I attended a couple of classes there and the instruction was very good. Most SWF owners seem to be happy with their purchase. You might want to check out the SWF Owners Group:

As far as whether to choose a multihead instead of a single I would base my decision on how many current requests I have for embroidery. If you expect to be busy and have the room for the machine I would probably go with a multi considering your customer base.
BTW I'll be attending the AC ISS too.
