I am thinking of getting Kornit printer, can any one confirm if it's as good as they say? are the prints as good as screen printed for color fastness when washed.
Re: Kornit printer good or bad?
It's a very good industrial quality printer, prints great color and detail, does not emulate screenprint. The problem is getting the image/garment dry and the ink cured without killing your bright colors. If you don't have a large gas dryer with a 20' tunnel to evacuate all that moisture from the print, you will be stuck with a great and very expensive printer with an ilusive ROI.
Re: Kornit printer good or bad?
Kornits are a funny thing.
They need to be run, almost constantly. My first one was plagued with issues, from clogging heads, to electronic issues, I had a few print heads go bad WAY before expected end of life. I was seriously freaked out wiht it for a while, after what I spent on it.
Now that I have upgraded to a 2nd Generation, its MUCH better, but it still needs to be worked. It needs to print at least several times a day, or it will clog like crazy. If we close for a few days for a holiday or just don't use it for the weekend. Monday morning is spent swearing and cleaning the heads at least 3 or 4 times to get it going again.
ink is also correct. You really DO need a mega dryer. Althought I don't have gas connections in my building (wish I did) I have a wide belt electric with a 16' tunnel (I think) and it does just fine.
I find that longer dwell time (slower belt speed) at slightly lower heat, helps to not kill the brightness of the colors.
