I don't have a problem with the cost, but wouldn't buy a machine without the black. More concerned about quality and washability and colorfastness of the ink.
I don't like using vinyl, and see guys with DTG having problems especially with washing, and pretreatment is a downer as is pretreat marks. No weeding is a huge advantage also.

7k and it's got it's limitations.
CMY (+white) No black (it's made from the CMY).
I've yet to see the price on the transfer papers but the price I saw for printing was 1.50 - 3 a print. That ain't cheap and they are "proprietary" toner carts.
Does look good for certain products and since it's transfered it has a softer hand than say a 3g opaque.
