Sweatshirt Embroidery

Did you figure it out? It's really simple and should be in the manual.

Basically, a hoop has two parts - the outer frame and the inner frame. Place the outer frame inside the sweatshirt and then place a sheet of stabilizer/backing on top of the outer frame. Then take the inner frame and put it on top of the sweatshirt so that it is on top of the outer frame. Then simply push the inner frame so that it clamps both the sweatshirt and the stabilizer/backing together. So you're basically sandwiching the shirt and backing between the outer and inner frame.

Forgot to add. When you load the shirt on the machine, you have to make a nest-like structure so that you don't embroidery the front and fabric together. I found a web page the illustrates it on a shirt but of course it can be done on a sweatshirt too.

I do lots of embroidery, including sweatshirts. Hooping t-shirts is the same as hooping sweatshirts.

Yest it matters. The fabric should be close to the needle plate. Basically, the less the fabic moves the better. If the outer frame/hoop was placed on the outside/top of the sweatshirt, the fabric and stabilizer will be raised substantially which will cause the fabric and stabilizer to move.
