Client has a design that was digitized 4 inches tall in 2010 and they want to know why we would charge anything additional for a 12 inch tall version today.
Ok, to me going from left chest to full back is not just a matter of pressing a few buttons (for most designs) running stitch detailing needs to be satins, more details can be added from the original art.. etc.
Also, nearly 4 years later? somehow I feel the time lag also would negate the question.. not a matter of requesting both at the same original time which to me would afford a discount.
What do you think?

Generally, taking it from LC to JB requires some re-punching; added detail..and I think people think you can just increase the size. Our rule of thumb is we can take a LC up or down, about 25% at no charge...fill, outlines and detail can distort if more than that. Areas where stitches don't have columns might be too long and the stitches will break so columns have to be added. Each design is different but I have yet to see a LC that didn't need additional columns, colors and re-punching to go to JB size.
Just like hat designs. A hat design can be increased up to 25% for a LC but a LC cannot be reduced because it has to be punched differently for proper sew out. We advise most of our clients, if you think you are going to use a design for a hat, it's better to punch it that way and increase the size (if needed) to suit LC, then an edit charge isn't necessary later.

This type of request just really shows the end customers lack of knowledge into the work involved in such a request. There is just such a limited amount of respect out there for the time, experience, and talent that it takes to digitize well.
Sadly, I deal with these kind of requests often.

LC to JB ( example 3.5 to 10 inc)I garuntee for new repurch for sure. Bcoz everything in detail have to change. Digitizer try to do the best for quality and protect some problem of embroidery in big size. But you can bargain to them for limit maximum stitches price. If they still say no, I suggest you should change new company to do your design.
