is it possible to convert 12head to smaller 1-2 machine?

hi all, wanting information about down sizing a machine to 2 head machine. we were given for free a 12 head barudan (older machine) problem is the sheer size of this beast. the original plan was to convert the unit into a smaller one (parting out the spare heads) and welding the frame to fit into small shop. after looking over the running mechanisims of the 12 heads it looks possible to convert most of the beast down. one major problem I am seeing will be with the moving plate/table that will need to precision set to the main movement of the hoop holders ect. has anyone ever attempted to convert a machine? and or know of any sites that may help with ideas or problems that will be involved in this project?
