i have been using an old mac and lazer printer to print positive on tranperancy that is all good but i would like to use my deskjet 1220c. How is everybody doing it, i have printed on translucent paper and it worked, can anybody let me know what they do or their process, are u just using photoshop and doing your designs in layers and then converting each one to black and just printing each layer with reg. marks? I am just trying to streamline everything and do it all off of one computer. any suggestion?

Hey Wood, the method you are using in photoshop works, but you should try making separations in Illustrator as well. The easiast way is to open your swatch pallette to pantone coated. use specific pantone colors assigned to your design, it doesn't matter if those are the actual colors you are printing it is just a specific assignment for seperation pouposes. Make sure when you start a design or make a new page to begin working on a design that you go to file> document> cmyk. You will find that your ext will be alot smoother in illustrator than in photoshop becasue of the vector art / pixel image file nature. feel free to contact me with any questions @chevyrcg@aol.com

I agree with Image2020 and recommend using Adobe's Illustrator® CS3 to take your art into. When you use the print dialog, make sure you choose seperations instead of composite to print your different colored plates.
Hint, make your registration marks using the "registration black" swatch. That way they will automatically show up in the same place on each plate.
