Production Manager
Work schedule Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm with some seasonal overtime required.
Salaried position $50-70k commensurate with experience plus bonuses, paid time off, health insurance, and other benefits.
M&R automatic presses and dryers, full in house screen department with laser-to-screen technology and automated reclaim. Paperless print shop with online management of scheduling, jobs, proofing and reporting.
Job Summary
Directs and coordinates printing and screen department operations to achieve and maintain quality standards and meet customer deadlines. This position is responsible for the training and continued education of print and screen department personnel and the introduction of new equipment, techniques and products to expand the capabilities of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:
Daily Production Oversight
Work with Operations Director and Print Supervisor to schedule necessary staff to accomplish daily goals while maintaining labor cost
Work with Operations Director and Print Supervisor to redistribute workload to cover off on absences.
Provide support to the print crew to ensure the daily completion of the print schedule.
Schedule projects and assign staff to complete.
Staff Training
Hold weekly meetings with print staff to review the upcoming schedule, discuss any special considerations and review quality results from the previous week.
Review morning accomplishments before lunch with the Print Supervisor who will oversee the daily schedule.
Train new print and screen department staff members.
Work with the Operations Director to take disciplinary action when needed to make expectations clear to your staff.
Work with the Operations Director to get annual and periodic reviews done.
Equipment
Oversee that equipment is maintained in good working order.
Work with Operations Director to make sure daily and weekly maintenance tasks are included on checkouts and are being accomplished.
Coordinate with outside vendors as needed for installation and repair.
Research and implement solutions to maintenance issues.
Manage vendors in the production shop, overseeing and confirming completion of work.
Supplies & Product Knowledge
Source new products for cost savings or better results.
Keep all necessary supplies in stock and anticipate needs to avoid rush orders.
Arrange training for staff on new techniques and equipment.
Source new vendors for production supplies as needed or to add capabilities.
Quality Assurance
Oversee press approvals as scheduled by Print Supervisor, ensure highest quality print, making at-press adjustments as needed to produce a print that exceeds the customer expectations
Train on quality issues as they arise to improve efficiency and quality
(Backup)Spec color separations with special attention to ink selection.
(Backup)Proof color separations before they go to the screen department for burning.
Approve first print on all jobs using the press approval checklist.
Set high expectations for quality during print runs and monitor during production.
Track quality issues and report weekly and monthly.
Provide positive encouragement and corrective feedback on quality issues daily.
