Hats

What is everyones go to needle for baseball hats?? I have an older tajima tmfx II, does anyone know if the cap driver can be adjusted so minimize the gap of hard structured hats to the needle plate. I have seen videos of other brand machines that the needle bar can be adjusted down by the computer to eleminate the space between the needle plate and the foot, elimanting most of the gap, so there is no flagging..... I did 24 hats earlier this week and had 6 broken needles even after slowing the machine down to 350 spm...... Very frustrating.... thank you
