Daystar Help

I am the IT guy for an entrepreneur that recently bought a used SWF East embroidery machine (using Daystar software) from a private owner. He was told the designs have to be saved to a disk and transferred to the machine. I found this hard to believe so I called SWF and talked to Allen who was very helpful. He said the cpu and the machine can be direct connected, but he could not find the exact settings. This is what I am trying to figure out. The owners manual doesn't explain how to do this either.

I know I have to use the Daystar Direct Communication software, but beyond that I need help. Thanks, in advance.
