Forums:
I recently purchased a pr-620 used. The lady sent a CD to download PE-Design 6.0 and 7.0. I can't get the 7.0 to work. I have talked to Brother and they have told me that it is not a full version if it does not contain the reader/writer box. The lady I bought it from says Brother told her that the pr-620 does not need a reader/writer box. I have tried for months to clear this up and have not gotten anywhere. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: PE-Design 6.0
The PR620 itself does not need a reader/writer box. The PE-Design software requires the presence of the card reader/writer box to start the program. If it does not detect the card reader/writer, the program will not start... You could still use a program like EmBird and copy files to the PR620 via USB cable or flash drives as an alternative.
You *might* be able to pick up a reader/writer with an older version of PED-Basic and see if it would work, might be cheaper than trying to buy a new copy of PE-Design 6, 7 or 8... I don't think there are any differences between the physical devices, it would probably just reformat the card to the newer software. Maybe check on the PR600 Yahoo news group, I'm sure someone there would know...
Re: PE-Design 6.0
Thanks for the info.
Re: PE-Design 6.0
Does anybody know, if you buy the pe basic design software to get the card box, can it be upgraded to the 7.0? Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
