I have saved $1500 dollars and want to start an embroidery business. I know that it is a difficult budget to start, but does anyone think that an inexpensive / used machine can make enough over the course of a year to buy a more expensive machine down the road? Everyone starts somewhere and this just happens to be where I'm at. ANY feedback would be great!!

Hi, How about using that money to help you start Selling embroidery.... Creating a professional appearance for yourself...ie.. business cards, web site, brochures, etc.... use someone else to actually DO the embroidery until your business has enough customers to warrant you getting your own machine (s).
Just my thought.

You might wanna try to find a used one head machine. You can start at the Used embroidery machine forum. It maybe a bit difficult but who knows you'll find something.
You also have to consider the operational cost that you need to cover monthly.

I love Roberts idea of being a salesman first. Once you get enough customers then lease a machine where your payments can be about 200 or so a month for 4 or 5 years and then you can do the embroidery yourself. Keep in mind it is time consuming so if your doing embroidery by yourself its going to be hard to get new customers, thats why I think you should get the customers first. A suit, a website, business cards, a DBA license, and some brochures and your in it buddy. Any questiosn feel free to email me.
