I have a Tajima embroidery machine, and I hit the hoop and broke a needle. I have replaced the needle, but now the thread wont stay in the fabric. It starts to sew then after about 10-20 stitches it stops and gives me a thread break code. I have made sure the slit in the needle is facing forward. The other needles still sew fine, but when it comes to the needle ( that was broken ) its stops. It appears that it isnt catching the bobbin. I'm thinking it is a timing issue but I'm not sure how to adjust the timing.:confused:

In my honest opinion I don't think it is timing because the other needles sew fine. I am more inclinded to believe it is needle depth issue with the one needle. I own a Barudan so I can't help you with how to check it on your Tajima. Could be that when you replaced the needle that you didn't get it up as far as it needs to be.

Not a timing issue....
On our machine the "slit" is not straight forward...if you are looking at the needle the slit will be to YOUR right just a little. This may be all you need to do.

I don't think that this is a timing issue, because as two said, the other needles sew fine, a timing issue would throw the whole machine off.
Let me make sure I know what you are getting at, is it a "pull-out" does the thread indeed come out of the fabric? Or is it a false error code e.g. 291 (thread break) or 293 (bobbin break/empty)
Are you repeatedly breaking needles or is it just the thread break/pull-out issue?
As far as the "slit" issue and needle alignment this is generally goverened by how tighly your machine hook has been gapped. On machine that I am not planning running caps on, I gap the machines VERY closely, in which case, the needle would need to be dead straight on.
If I have a machine that is frequently used for caps or thicker materials, you need to allow for a little needle flexion or you will have needle breaks all over the place.
Go by the rest of the needles on your machine, if they are straight on, put it straight. If angled, then angle the replacement, try to match the rest of the needles in the machine.
If you hit a hoop you may have damaged a take-up lever, this can very likely cause thread breaks/pull-outs among other things. Needle / foot depth is a possibility too, look at the needles next to the rest of them, are they all pretty much in-line? Does anytihing seem to have a drastically different level. If it does the depth will have to be reset, if it is off, let me know, I can post a few pic's of how to reset depth quickly.
Do you have a NEO? or is this a bridge/beam machine? How new? They changed some (a lot actually) of components when they unveiled the M series. It will help me get you some better answers.

I adjusted my needle to match the others, and it is working again. ( Man... do I feel dumb ). Now I just need to stop hitting the hoop with the needle. LOL
