esp 9000 threading problems

I have a problem with it after it cuts the thread it won't pick it back up on any of the 15 needles. But after it cuts it if I stop the machine N pull the thread out from the holding rail N pull out a little more it will work just fine. I adjusted the thread length in the menu to 15 N it still won't pick up. I checked the timing still not good. Help

That sounds like a problem with the picker mechanism.

Basically, the picker lever needs to catch the excess thread and pull it through the cloth, but if it isn't working then it appears the thread is not being picked up. Check that the picker lever is not bent, damaged, or out of place, and that it operates freely at the start of sewing after a trim/colour change.

If it's not operating then the solenoid could have failed, or the guide be sticking somewhere (clean and lubricate). If it has been knocked then you will need to check settings in the service manual and possibly need a replacement.

Ok here is what I just did I started a program sewing fine hit the stop button then the trim button it did just like it is supposed to do. So I hit the start button N I watched it very close N it looks like it is pulling the thread out of the needle before it goes through the material. I stopped the machine rethreaded. The needle N pulled a little extra out N it works fine. Hit stop again trim N start but it does the same thing.

Although there are slight variations from machine to machine, most trimmers work in a similar fashion.

Basically the machine will stop at a certain point in its cycle and a hook will slide out and grab the thread, pulling it a set distance. Then the knife underneath will cut the thread and the hook will retract further, pulling the thread from the cloth. The loose end is often just held in place by friction.

When sewing starts again the needle will start the first stitch as the picker moves and catches the thread as it passes over the front of the rotating hook. This causes the end of the thread to be pulled through the fabric to the underside and the picker moves out of the way to continue normal stitching.

For this not to work properly either the hook grabbing the thread from the top is missing the thread or is not pulling sufficient slack before cutting, so that as soon as the needle starts the pick up lever pulls the thread out. Or the bottom picker is not catching the thread so that it pulls the slack down, meaning the loose end is too short and comes back out.

If changing the parameters of your machine (which you would normally only change for different fabrics and needles) is not helping, then some aspect of the above needs resetting.

Check that the thread is being grabbed before cutting and that is pulls sufficient slack. Then watch the hook underneath to see if the picker is operating as it should.

If both these are working then I can only suggest a really bad tension issue or that your machine timing is badly out. By this I don't mean the hook/needle timing, which is easy to check and only affects stitch formation, but rather the main shaft angle coding and how it affects all the other actions such as pantograph movement, jump stitches and thread trim. You need to know exactly what you're doing if this needs resetting, otherwise you can cause serious damage.

I know this is an old post but I found it very useful. My bobbin picker was bent and would not work properly. cleaned and oiled the parts now it's working fine. Thank you.

Thanks for all ur help it was the picked solenoid. It had a ball of cut thread under the arm N was not allowing it the move all the way back to the bobbin. Cleaned it all out N wiped out with cleaner put back together N runs like a champ. Thanks again I really appreciate it. Have a Blessed day

Sounds like maybe you just need to adjust the length of the thread cutter. It's located on the control panel under function. Choose a longer thread tail.
