I came across your forum which I found to be very good and informative and have picked up some good pointers, so have decided to join with a few questions which hopefully some kind person will be able to advise me on. I am very new to digitizing and am using Husqvana 3D. I have managed to complete quite a few designs successfully. However, being an Arsenal supporter, I naturally wanted to do some variations on that theme! I digitized just the cannon making it 80mm wide. It came out pretty good for a beginner!
Question 1: I now want a smaller version of it to save as a separate file. I went into the can file and changed the finished size to 50mm but when I stitched it out, it produced some extra stitched in the spaces of the wheel. Perhaps this is not how to resize – surely I don’t need to start again from the beginning to make a different size? I’m not sure if I need to also alter anything like density or compensation. Any suggestions please?
Question 2: I read on your forum about charging per 1000 stitches and the reason for this. What I can’t figure out is, if somebody asks you to digitize a picture to embroider and wants to know how much it will cost, how do work out how many stitches it will take before you actually digitize it? I’ve not found anywhere in 3D that can tell you that until it’s been digitized. So, how do you work it out? I am not going into business, especially as I’m so new at it, but a few friends want me do some for them and I need to know how to work out a fair price. Would be grateful for advice.
