Went to a NBM show to look at a Tajima TFMX-1501 and got interested in sublimation, then decided I would rather get into laser engraving.
Dont have the money for both, and the wife said which do you think would be more profitable.
Engraving or embroidery?

should be Engraving.
Re: Embroidery or Engraving?
follow your passion... but while there may be more money per piece in engraving I would still think that it is easier to sell and therefore make money in embroidery.. a more "known" medium.

Thanks for the suggestions. The thing about a laser is it can do glass, wood, marble, acrylic, even you kitchen cabinets or your house.

Re: Embroidery or Engraving?
Ah well, let a little more time pass so the wife can get over me just buying a 80w laser.
I still want a Tajima.

Re: Embroidery or Engraving?
I say engraving! It's way more useful, cause of the amount of surfaces you can do. :)
I'm POSSIBLE!
Re: Embroidery or Engraving?
When I saw the Tajima's at the NBM show I really wanted one, but when I saw JDS's catalog and the enormous amount of materials that can be engraved or cut I decided I will give it a try.
It is scheduled to be delivered this thursday.

Re: Embroidery or Engraving?
I do both. My 5 embroidery heads run 10 hours a day, there are days I do not turn on my laser. I learned a long time ago that just because I CAN do something, doesn't mean the market is there to buy it. Good luck to you.
Re: Embroidery or Engraving?
Maybe in a year or two I can afford a Tajima, but this showed up.

Re: Embroidery or Engraving?
Hi Dennis, How you getting on with your new engraver. I've just started using one of these at my place of work (well about 9 months in I think). They do seem to be somewhat finiky but gradually I'm getting ideal settings documented.
