I have 2 melco emc6 machines that I just bought and so far everything seems to work well except the trim function. The arm comes out and grabs the thread but it does not cut it. I guess my question is this: is the grabber hook that grabs the thread suppose to be sharp enought to cut the thread or is there some other way this works? I have replaced the velcro on the slide and it did not make a difference. If anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated as I'm tired of having to stop the machine and cut the thread everytime it changes colors.:D
Re: Help with trim function on a melco emc6
I don't own a melco, but I am sure the cutting procedure is the same on all machines. Remove the needle plate and you will see the cutter blade. Put a drop of oil on the screw that holds the cutter and on the pivot joint right across from it. Work it back and forth a few times to work the oil in. Another thing you may want to do is check the blade it is carbon fiber if it is chipped it wont cut the thread. These can be replaced for about 40.00.
Hope this fixes your problem,
Randy
