(yes i know im posting this in the wrong area, this seems to be the most viewed area)
The Company i work for has a rush order for 510 santa hats that need a red print on both sides.
The printer that worked here before me had did the order last year, i saw some samples and they look half way decent, passable to me and the customer liked them.
What i need right now is a THICK ink depost that i can not get..i started out using a 175 mesh, ink deposit was super light and was not displayed right on the hat, now im on a 110 and im having the same problem. What ive noticed is the ink isnt being layed down on the hat, its all "mushing" up in the screen.
I thought to solve this i could add a good amount of softener to the ink- no.... or even use a ink i use for printing plastics.. since the ink is super thin- no.
The print needs to be on the white stripe of the hat, i also have a decent amount of off contact going on.
If you have any ideas for me, please don't hesitate!!

two options:
Option one: I assume you are using Plastisol, if you want a thick deposit you need to start with a thick ink, there is an additive called thickener power usually this description is all you need for most manufactures ( add this to your plastisol until you can pick up some ink on the spatula turning it sideways it will not run off) also for an extra kick you can add some high density additive 15% by weight (or puff additive about 10%) . Screen prep should be thick ( capilary film about 100 micrns or better ) 110 mesh should do great.
Option 2: 160 screen running water base RFU ink ( you won't feel the ink and it would look and feel nice) Screen prep using a water resistant emulsion or just put a hardener on what ever your running now, should last 500 impressions.
One last thing: If your running this on a manual this should be cake, but if your running this on an Auto put a screen in head 1 so you can flatten the fiber of the strip of white prior to printing, this will help from having all the fibers messing with you. You can always double pass it on a manual but if the fibers are a problem flatten them out on a transfer machine prior to printing. Happy Printing
