Laser cutter

I have been hand cutting my embroidery from hoops. Our business has grown to the point where a laser would help us. I don't know anything about them or how this works. Are lasers a separate machine, do they attach to our machines...both...either, is one better then the other? How does the laser know where to cut without clipping the threads. I am sure these are all basic questions, but I really don't know where to go to learn more about this. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated.

you can add a laser to most machines.
