I know we have discussed this before but times change
When is the last time you asked a person... man or woman... to stand still so you could take a phone number off their chest?? seriously.
"excuse me I am NOT staring at your chest... I am simply trying to get the number off of it... OH can you straighten it out... part of it is below... you know what I mean."
business cards , yes... embroidery? I do not understand with today's tech. All we need is a catchy logo and a NAME..... google/yelp/etc takes care of all else.
what do you think?

Re: Left Chest phone numbers?
You are absolutely 100% correct. Save all the contact info for a screen printed T shirt if the trade calls for it. Otherwise brand your appeal and accessories with your logo for representation and leave the contact info for business cards, handouts, and websites.

Re: Left Chest phone numbers?
i usually get pretty much great artwork anymore. years ago it would be hand drawings on napkins (and once a candy wrapper), or black and white faxes, etc. occasionally i get crappy artwork and can usually find something cleaner on google images.
a tip though....embroiderers....if your customer only has an embroidered shirt for artwork, HOOP it and then take the pic, and take the pic looking straight at the logo. of course, this doesn't work if they're wearing it! hahaha but still, take the pic looking directly at it, in decent light.

I like that idea of hooping... simple and definitely would help! we get horrible art each day... just a part of the job. round and round we go but we always have the ability to say you know what.... this is what we need. if you do not want to provide that then please go somewhere else. WE are disposable and also are YOU. I think this attitude, pushed just far enough, lends credibility and loyalty. cannot go too far though!

don't share your opinion on the attitude. i always try to help. i very rarely get artwork that i absolutely can't do anything with. i digitize almost everything from scratch tho so i don't need vector, etc. i just use the artwork as a template

Re: Left Chest phone numbers?
I agree! Its best not to include a phone number in a left chest design but I do it if they want it. I don't accept a shirt as artwork anymore. For me those people are always trying to save money so they don't want to pay for the extra time involved when they don't provide good artwork. I spoke with someone yesterday who wanted to provide a shirt as artwork for hats - he claimed that his embroidered hats always look bad and there were no good embroiderers around - maybe his "artwork" is part of the problem.
