I am located in Alabama. I have a direct to garment printer and embroidery machines. I am looking to add screen printing to my business. I'd like to start with at least a 2-color operation (maybe up to 4). I am looking for equipment that I can purchase to learn the process. I'd like to spend $4000 or less. Is it possible to find all the equipment that I need for this amount without buying something that I will regret in the long run?

I'd look into Vastex 100%.
Best customer service in screen printing in my opinion.

Goldie: $4000 is light for a new equipment shop set up that you can actually rely on. Used printing machines, except for a few are more problematic than you would care to experience. We have been building manual printers for 31 years. Our top machine is the one used by the majors. Russell Athletic just ordered their 48th unit from us. Our entry level machines are well engineered. The key to success when getting into screen printing is to do lots of research. If you would like to talk, call me.

I am a screenprinting shop in East Texas and I've been producing for 3 years and still barely have 4000 worth of equipment. It all just depends on what you want to be able to to. Shoot me an email and I'll explain more in detail.

don't buy a 2 color press you will end up buying at least a 6 color in the end and hopefully bigger don

4k is enough, there are deals out there you just got to find them. When we started we didn't have much for equipment, spent about 4 grand and build a nice light table with vacuum and wash out booth. I would suggest that if you are crafty. Within a year we upgraded to and 8/8 Vastex and YES they are amazing manual machines and their tech support is superb. Get a tabletop 4/4, not a 2 station. The key is to find a decent dryer, they are the hardest to find. But a great starter is the Vastex EconoRed1, I have seen them used for around 2k. You can find used supplies as well, word to the wise, get good screens. You need a film output, go with a laser if you need to. Good luck.
