Hey Guys, been lurking here for a while, now I need some help, please!
I've got an old (probably late 80's) 3611 harco dryer. I've asked for wiring help here earlier this year and was able to find what I needed. I got it running and have been using it full time since March. It does need work and I'm at a point to where I either need to fix it right, as in a full refurbish, or buy a new dryer, which I don't want to do, nor do I have the cash and don't want to finance a 6-K dryer! All the parts as a whole work, it heats up fine,but it keeps melting relays. Right now I don't have any spares and it's hard to keep the heat consistent.

Go on ebay and look for a seller by the name of ColdfusionX. He sells temp controllers and SSRs. Set you back about $70 total, depending on what amperage you need for the SSR. (probably 60 amp) Be sure and ask for the longer thermocouple with the temp controller.
Line voltage (120/240) is supplied to the temp controller and one leg (240) of the heating panels. The other leg is passed through the SSR which is controlled via 12-24 VDC from the temp controller. It's really very simple once you've got your head wrapped around it. The only tricks are that thermocouples are polarized (hook it up the right way around or it won't work) and programming the controller. This is a much better and more efficient way of controlling electric dryers.
