Looking for volunteers to digitize for.

for practice... not the lettering just the berries. same done 3 different ways. black first and leave holes in the red for the black seeds to show through.... black first with special technique on red overlay to allow seeds to show through... and finally red first and black seeds on top/with trims if needed.

this is a pretty good exercise to practice to understand that most designs can be done multiple ways. also good for you to learn to ask your client: hey have you had this embroidered before... if so may we see an image of what was done before to try and match OR do you want us to do something different?

practice is the IMPORTANT thing... not whether someone will actually use the design... look at stock design packs! pay for 25 images but use 2? just sayin.

I am sorry to have offended you... but if you think for one minute that ANYTHING you do for a client.. hats, shirts jackets, etc is going to "mean something useful" then we just are coming from different places.

what IS useful is the knowledge a digitizer learns , by exercises like I just presented, to help COUNTLESS clients over the next 10, 15 to 30 years! There is no school for this craft and just knocking out whatever comes across your desk is not really going to help in the long run in my opinion. taking a design and doing it multiple ways will!

having trained hundreds of new digitizers I think I speak from experience. Look at the artwork on my second website.. mostly done for fun. But doing those "useless" designs sure taught me a heck of a lot!

I get it and I think it is very cool that you are trying to improve your craft! Do you have your own embroidery machine? Sewing what you do or what others have done sure teaches a lot as well. Maybe I put too many stitches here or not enough there.. .hard to tell on the computer screen sometimes but with an actual sewout it sure helps.

added benefit when a client Does have an issue sometimes sewing the design out yourself can help prove to them that possibly it is a machine/operator error not necessarily a digitizer error. it is a marriage but all to often the digitizer takes the full blame for quality issues but with your own sewout there is at least an opportunity for discussion.

That is Great that you have your own machine! well from our back and forths I think it should be pretty obvious to the members here (come on people!) that you actually care. That you want to learn how to be a better digitizer. If I were looking for a person to digitize for my design that is Exactly what I would want. I think you will be just fine.

When I started... back before the "interweb" lol we would offer the first 5 designs free... and marked them on 3X5 notecards. because only one design is a hit or miss... but by 5 they pretty much know if they can work with you. some are still clients to this day... many never completed the 5! ego bust! like wow... can't even GIVE the stuff away! But it all worked out and most of those clients are no where to be seen in the industry now. But like your concept we learned a heck of a LOT.

I totally understand. I have been running a 4 head machine going on 18 years. I have always wanted to learn how to digitize. Now I am in a job where I got a little training and now just trying to figure out where to start on designs. So We all need your help.
