I hope somebody here can help me. My aunt recently gave me her Melco EDS III single head machine. She has lost the dongle for the program but the computer she gave me has the Wilcom program on it. Since I realize I may not be able to send from the computer to the machine, I was going to just use floppy disks. When I turn on the machine it says insert boot disk. She has two different floppy disks that say Boot Disk but neither one works. It always says boot disk error. Is there anyone out there that can help me or tell me someone who can? I live in the Houston area.
Thanks for reading.
Re: Melco EDS III Help
On some of the older embroidery machines with the 3.5 floppies the floppy drive gets dirty and needs cleaning. The first thing I would try is to use a floppy disk cleaner. You used to be able to find them at any computer shop, but since its considered old technology you may have to find one on the internet.

Before you go into a lot of other diagnostic procedures I would try this first.

Re: Melco EDS III Help
Well I tried the cleaner and even ordered a new boot disk from melco and still nothing. My husband is going to try to attached a different floppy drive but he commented that when you turn the machine on, there are all red lights on the circuit board, no green ones. UGH. Any more suggestions.
