New Here - Newby Qestion about Thread

Hi there nearly neighbor! The thread choice depends on what type of embroidery you are planning. For example, if you are doing medical scrubs or anything else that could be bleached often you will want to stay with Polyester thread... so the colors never change on your embroidery. Standard left chest/hat embroidery then rayon should work. Firefighter garments then Nomex type retardant threads, etc. So it really does depend on your plan for what type of items you want to sew.
Dont forget the different backings either... tear away, cut away, iron on.. iron on after the fact for baby wear, etc. Lots to it but simple once you know.
Also think about different weights of thread... again depending on what you sew. For example if you plan on sewing lots of larger items with big areas of embroidery... then go with 30wt thread.... standard left chest and stuff 40wt..... but any fine detail or super small lettering go with 60wt (that is what you see on patches) Please dont try to get super fine detailing from your digitizer if you are not willing to meet halfway and have thinner threads...kind of like trying to sew small lettering with YARN ... lol
