I have some... but Steve's price is killer!

Are you in Los Angeles? How much?

To begin, I'm still new but getting way better at screen printing, most of it from reading forums, videos online and of course practice. I have successfully removed and applied emulsion on some screens I bought off a local guy for around $3 with some logos already printed. I then drew up a logo on illy, printed on my wide printer and burn the image on these screens, the tension are weak on each screens (the frame is fine) but they are only to practice my printing techniques on the press. The prints turn out good even with a delicate mesh tension. I have an 6/2 raceway line press with a 16x16 square board (need to upgrade to better boards). Even more important, now I want to make my own screens this including stretching. Evenly important, I heard and seen on youtube using a newman roller frame you can stretch the mesh to a nice tension with soft corners, then glue the mesh to a static frame inside the newman. I want to take this approach forward so I was looking for a newman frame for this reason. Any input?

You need a 23x31 m3 or at least all 4 sides roller. For 20x24 static.

Thanks again Steve. If you get anymore 23x28 or 23x31 square bars call me.

Not in LA (well, Louisiana which is abbreviated La ;) ).

As sben763 mentioned, you will need larger frames. 20x18's are the ID of the frame... that won't get you where you need to be.

But if you want to take it serious and gonna learn how to tension up a newman anyway... then just get a fleet of newmans and be done with it.

I've printed on both (currently still doing statics) and I can't tell you how ready I am to move to newmans. I'm just waiting to get setup in my new "mesh safe" shop vs the chaos I'm printing in now.

"you don't need a hook for the worms to dance."

thank you for the reply. My press does not take bigger frames kindly. The best size frames I feel I can use for printing are 16x19 or max size 20x20 (best option), 20x24 are okay but a little large. 21x15 frame is too big. Unless I upgrade to a 18x18 platen.

so will a 23x31 MZX frame do the job to stretch?

Since you use smaller frames the 23x28 might work. I have done this so a few tips. The all roller frames work better for stretching<----trust me. 2nd I will wash the screen with warm water and degreaser then resterch. Before glueing. Now we just use roller frames exclusively threw out all the static frames.

What are you using for gluing?
