I have a Brother BAS-416a. If i change to the Frame Holder base assembly using the large 432 Tajima hoop (11"x17") the weight on the front of the hoop frame lags down and will get caught at either side when moving to the left or right without physically holding the frame above the catch spots. I don't have the "Table Plate" but also notice that every similar machine listed on this site doesn't come with it. Does anybody with experience with this machine have any ideas on ways around this? I'd like to stitch out some extra large designs but am not going to spend $561 on a Table Plate (found online parts distributor).
Thanks,
John
Re: Help with large format hoops on BAS-416a
I have this machine.........the frame your using was made to sew with the table mount. Your board idea will work but you'll need to secure it somehow during sewing. Otherwise it will move during sewing. Needs to be approx: 1/2 inch thick.....not much taller otherwise the frame will tilt upwards. I have an extra table, never used. Contact me if interested.

I don't know if this will work. Try attaching a bungecord to front and up on ceiling to pull it up. This is a trick used for heavy coats by attaching to sleeves to get weight off and get them out of the way. It just may work for this. Good luck.

Thank you embthreads...interesting idea that should work.
My other option was to use a thin board mounted to the front of the arms for support.
