I am currently looking at 2 different embroidery machines to do some jobs with. The first one is a Toyota AD860 and the next on is a Melco EMC10T. There is just a very small price difference between the two. I would like to have some opinions on these machines, so I can decide which one I will purchase.
I would also like some information on what kinds of software I can use with these, neither comes with software. Also need to know how to tranfer files to these machines. Are they floppy disks, and if so is there a way to change that to USB or direct connect to a computer?
Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Forget the Melco. The Toy is a good unit that stands up to abuse. We ran one when we were still doing mostly custom work, and every tape was verified on the Toy first. After we decided we needed another single head, we went with a brother which was almost twice the price, but I saw little advantage to the brother other than that we could some Tajima parts on the Brother with very minor alterations if any. Buy the Toy.

The Toyota 860 is a good machine. Only thing you might have issues with is finding replacement parts since it's past it's support life but DataStitch seems to be keeping most available if at a premium. Any digitizing software that can export a DST can be used with the 860. I'd ask it if has a floppy drive with it but mostly it's a serial connection from your computer to the 860. You should be able to add a floppy to USB emulator to it regardless though. Embroidery Fonts Plus is about the only program I know of that allows you to transfer designs to the machine for free via serial connection. Hopefully someone else will have information about the Melco.
