I really can't Understand if people are selling old equipment and im talking older them 3 or 4 years old ..... 2007 or 2008 machines how come they are selling them so close to the Original Price of a Brand new 2015 machine ?? A brand new machine with EVERYTHING included is close to $9,500 and people are selling OLD equipment for $8,500 or $7,500 .... for that i'd rather buy a new machine under warranty smh , I understand people spent a lot on your machines but im sure many of you made your money back and then some , if your getting rid of it , cause its taking up space 1/2 price it ... the machines are old and worn down already
Re: Can't Understand ??
I tend to agree with you, although it seems to have always been like this within embroidery and I have no idea why.
One assumes it is a case of supply and demand economics, but I don't see the demand!
The only other aspect I know of, which might explain it a little, is that the price of new machines has fallen steadily for years, so people are selling relative to the money they paid, rather than the current price. For an example I know of, a 4 head 11 needle ZSK machine cost over £50000 new in 1996, yet a six head 15 needle ZSK was less the £30000 in 2007.

Assuming quite a bit here. Machines sell for what the market will pay. In your case of a $9500 machine, I'm fairly sure that is the price of a chinese made machine. If you want one from a proven manufacturer then you might pay up to twice that. When a buyer finances their machine and get's into trouble they try to sell for what the payoff is. I think this is what you may be encountering.
Single heads are popular because they allow anybody with a closet to be in the business. They fit through doors, around corners, and are generally not that heavy. I've seen some at bargain prices and others severely overpriced. It is what it is....
Making money has nothing to do with resale. I'm sure that when you decide to sell something you would want the most you can get for it. Why do others not get the same benefit?
When you speak of worn I'd apply that to the chinese made machines. A properly maintained machine made in Japan will keep going some 20 plus years and then still keep going if the electronics don't fail. I see plenty of 1995-1999 machines being sold and used on a daily basis.

I agree with Minimalist. Also, many used machines are barely used but come with many extras. Buying from the right individual can provide a wealth of information on how to run the machine, use the software and run the business.
