Hi All,
I am new to this board but am getting all kinds of good advice. I have a small embroidery business that I am looking to grow and want to add a commercial machine. I currently have a Innovis 1200 and am considering the Brothers 620. Someone told me when I got my first machine to always buy the next one up. I wish I had just bought the 600 machine initially...oh well! So, now that I am considering that one I am looking at the 9 needle as well. I do custom orders so I am afraid with 6 needles I will be switching out thread a lot. What are your thoughts? Or, is there another brand I should look at. I already have the software for Brothers which is why I am considering sticking with them but I am open to suggestions. Also, do you know what the price point is on the 900 or 1200? Any input you have is greatly appreciated.
Re: Brother ? - 6, 9, 12 needle
firstly, how many pieces are you doing a day?? it might be more beneficial to buy a multihead
Re: Brother ? - 6, 9, 12 needle
If you can afford it I would go with the 12 needle. Your decision should be somewhat dependant of what type of designs you do. If you do a lot of speciality items you may have a lot of colors changes whereas most business logos are 1-3 colors. No matter what you do you'll use all the needles because you'll need the color that's on the needle. With more needles you'll spend less time switching thread and you'll be able to keep basic colors like white, black, grey and red on the rack all the time. If you don't have to switch thread colors as much you'll spend less time adjusting tensions.

Re: Brother ? - 6, 9, 12 needle
I am doing baby products with designs on them. I have about 20 different designs to choose from plus different thread colors for monograms. I know I can call the shop and get pricing but does anyone know the price differences. I was quoted $7,500 for the 6 needle with stand. Also, what are your thoughts on a used machine? I am considering that as well.
Re: Brother ? - 6, 9, 12 needle
used machine is good. but, be careful where you buy it. 7500 is that with hoops etc...??
id buy used you can get so much more for your money. ive only bought new once and it was a nightmare.

When purchasing a used machine ask to see evidence of the last tech maintenance (owner should have receipt) and have the machine run your designs (flat & caps) to check the quality. Consider shipping costs/traveling expences as part of the price. Is there tech support? What type of tech support (phone/ visit)? Are any parts covered by warranty? Are parts available?
