Printing White Ink

Has anybody heard anything about Brother having a new printer that prints white ink?

Location:
United States

We run two brother GT541 machines. Have had zero problems. We have owned a couple of other brands including two that run white ink. With the struggles we had, we are waiting a bit longer to try white ink again.

jim55912, would you mind telling me how you get around the white ink issue with the GT541. Virtually every logo I've seen in my area, there is white in the logo, particularly school logos.

Everyone, every company that I talk with, compliments the 541, and they even sell other brands.

I've received sample kits from several DTG companies, and usually, I get a white and black shirt with a logo on it, and several times I've requested samples in red and light gray, and they all have white in the logos. Yet they tell me the 541 is a great machine.

Just wondering how you market without white in the design.

I know the GT541 doesn't do white ink, but the 782 does ( I believe that's the right model number). The 782 is around 65-70k.

Every other printer company compliments the Brother machines, no bad mouthing that I've ever heard of.

We'll be buying DTG this year, and regardless of the machine tech, I have to be able to do white ink, no way around it.

We'll wait as long as possible to see the new stuff and hear reviews, but we need to move to DTG this year. We already do embroidery, heat transfers, have a good source for the roland cutter, all we like is DTG to be complete.

This won't be available for a while. I'd wait and see before I bought one. It looks great but does anyone know how much this will cost? And how much ink does it use.

The initial price I heard is between $50K - $60K, but there is nothing written in stone yet. As for the ink pricing, I assume the color would be the same as their original printer, but the white ink could be as much as $600 per liter. If they do that, they will price themselves out of the industry, so my guess is they will try to be around $400 a liter, which is still pretty high.
