Despite the fact that rain gear by definition should not be embroidered, we get a number of customers wanting their team logos embroidered on rain jackets. I was curious as to whether or not there is some kind of backing or sealant that could cover the back of the embroidery to seal the area and keep moisture out.
Re: Rain Jackets
Despite the obvious ... I had a team want rain type jackets embroidered. It was a small logo, so they said they weren't worried about too much "leakage" if you will. They are tough to embroider especially the thinner ones, basicaly the best way we found is to sandwich them between 2 sheets of medium tear away backing. Just make sure you use crisp tearaway on the front to aoivd those nasty little fuzzies.
They do make an after the fact backing for embroidery its call cover-a-stitch, it may provide some water resistance to the item, however is by no means water proof. Its great stuff, however quite pricey.
