Hi Everyone,
Like it says, I am new here and glad that I found this forum. I have a question about purchasing a new machine. I have a Brother PE-180D it was a great little machine for a first timer, however, now I have found out how limited it really is. I purchased a large hoop from it's accessories list just to find out it will not work on my machine.
It makes me feel that they were not upfront about their product, so I am now looking for a new machine that will be able to do larger patterns. I only need a home machine as this is not a buisness or anything. I was looking at the Quantum Futura Emb./Sewing Machine by Singer and it comes with Singer Design CD with 3,900 Ready-to-Sew embroidery designs. Any info on these machines and software? Or list out any other brands that might be just as nice.
Thanks
Re: ?'S from a newbie, Brother Machines
Sorry you had such a bad experience. I have a Bernina artista 730E which is quite expensive but i feel it's worth every penny. I upgraded to this model from an older Bernina I had. I don't have much experience with Singer embroidery machines so hopefully someone will chime in to give their feedback. Generally, the bigger the embroidery field, the more expensive it is.
Good luck,
Marcy
Re: ?'S from a newbie, Brother Machines
I will only purchase Brother machines or products made by Brother. I think a lot depends on your local dealer and how much support they give you. I've recently upgraded from a Brother ULT 2003D to a PR-600. BEST investment I've EVER made! Sure it's costly, but it'll pay for itself in time. This is my fourth embroidery machine (I keep trading up as I can afford it) and all of my machines have been by Brother. My main sewing machine is a Bernina (made by Brother.) I only trust the older Singer machines.... those that had all metal gears and parts. I have not investigated their embroidery machines, but I'd test drive one before buying it, if I were you.

Hello there,
Im a newbie here too, what were the limiting things about your machine? Where did you have issues?
I'm looking at this machine and wondering if it is going to work for me as well or if I'm going to have limitations with the 4x4 size on it.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

Re: ?'S from a newbie, Brother Machines
I just find that a 4x4 area is too small for some of my needs. It is a good machine for small applications.
I am thinking of going to a machine that will do larger areas and multiple threads.
Thanks for the options, I too am looking at the PR-600. It looks like a great machine. :)
I am just not sure if I want to invest that much in one right now. But everything I have seen about it looks good.
Re: ?'S from a newbie, Brother Machines
HI there! I'm only 2 years into the embroidering and the first machine I bought was the Brother Disney machine. I found that the 4 x 4 just wasn't enough for me. I used it for the first 6 months and decided that I wasn't very please with with the quality of the pattern or the 4 x 4 with the Brother Disney machine. I then bought a Babylock Emore' (which they no longer make) and I have been pleased with it. It does 5 x 7 and I bought a 4 x 4 hoop for it as well. I would not recommend spending the money on the small brother machine - keep saving and buy something a little bigger. I want something bigger now as well. The more Money you invest the better quality you'll get.

I just upgraded to a pr-620 from an innovis 2500D. the 2500 does up to 10 x 6 designs and is a good working machine if you need a machine that does both embroidery and sewing plus you can create your own stitching designs. My machine is for sale as i have two other sewing machines as well as the 620.
