Is this a scam?

Someone responded to an ad got my phone number and called.... wants to purchase a machine from a classified ad.

They want to use a credit card and send a mover.....not really sure what could go wrong other than a chargeback or using a not legit credit card.

Is this a common scam? Is there anyway to protect myself?
seems a little odd they would purchase an item sight unseen from across the country even if it's a good deal.

Private seller, so don't have a way to process a credit card.

any advise, experience would be greatly appreciated.
