Could someone tell me what the average cost for a one time screen printing set up fee. My
son has been charging $40.00 dollars and that just seems to high for me. i don't want him
to loose bussiness because he is too high. Thanks for any input.

Re: set up fee charge
setup charges are normally based on costs associated with actually setting up the screens for printing. These charges vary by printer and associated printer overhead costs incurred. I've seen charges anywhere from $10 per screen to $65 per screen.
personally, I dont quote seperate screen charges. I have all the setup charges front loaded in my shirt pricing so I just quote your order is X.XX.
how did your son arrive at $40 setup?
Have a great day! :)

Re: set up fee charge
I do not charge a separate setup fee either. I just roll it into the price per shirt. It's much less complicated for the customer, and they are never happy when they feel like they are getting nicked all over the place with art charges, setup charges, screen charges, etc.
Re: set up fee charge
I only charge a one time burn fee of $12 crest and $20 full image. If they come back in 6 months, and need more shirts with the same image, they don't pay for that burn fee again. My customers like this because some of my competitors price high and charge every time they have to set up.

Re: set up fee charge
We here at N.W. Awards just include the "set-up" fee into the "per shirt" cost unless it's a short run, then we have a "short run" addition. That way customers don't get the feeling of being nickled and dimed to death.
