I am failrly new to silk screening. My husband and I are running our business from home. We need to get a new printer to print our images so we can burn them on a screen. What kind of printer are the other silk screeners using? Epson, Canon, HP??

Re: Silk Screen Printer Help!
I use a Post-Script Laser printer from Gcc Technologies. The 20/600 or the 40/600-1200 will print up to 13X36 inches, and the film for it comes in 13X18.5. More than enough for any print.
If you buy an Ink-Jet, it will do just as good...only you will have to buy a "Rip" software to make it print half-tones like a laser, and special inks and films. The cost is much more than a laser.
A post-script laser prints true half-tone and all you need to do is spray a light mist of "Toner-Aid" on the film to make it as black as black can get. Better burns that way.
Check into it a little more and read the pros and cons. You'll just have to make up your mind on which direction you want to spend your money.

Re: Silk Screen Printer Help!
We're using a Konika Minolta® Page Pro 9100 Postscript Laser Printer which handles 11" x 17" stock and it performs well.
With Ink Jet printers you'll spend a fortune on ink.

Re: Silk Screen Printer Help!
You need to go laser.
Look for any old used HP 4mv.
You definitely need postscript, to print out half-tones.
