Tajima Error Code 383

Hi all,

Have a TMEX C-1201 giving a 383 Error Code.
Description of this code states:
"The color change location is not valid for running the head. Please check or re-center".

What do you actually check for and how do you re-center?

Any assistance appreciated.

It throws this error in the Menu-D screens which defaults to 1 M(NDL) 17 and when I try to jog it to another value it switches to 12 for a brief moment then throws the 383 error.

Thanks in advance.

The one head machine is not so familiar to me ,but :

Set the machine to be at 100 deg.
Must be an degree disk somewhere.
Turn the shaft by hand.

Behind the tension base is the colours change motor.
Turn the motor by hand, and the display must show an needle number.

Perform am manual trimming .

Your machine has standard panel,or LCD ?

Standard panel. Tried this but nothing changes. Even when I start up the machine there is no needle number shown. Just a "_" on the display. What do I need to switch out or replace?

Turn OFF the power.
Manually, turning by hand colours change motor, set the moving head to needle nr.1.
Needle to be in the centre of needle plate hole.

Keep press F3,and turn On the power.
The display must show 200.
If no value on the display,or something strange, check the colour change potentiometer.

Have tried this thanks. No needle number showing unfortunately, so will look to replace the potentiometer and see if that solves it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the ongoing advice. I replaced the potentiometer with a new one but get the same error 383.Any further advice? Could this error occur if I am not entering variables on the screen correctly?

Sort of. I got the machine past the error code as the software package I was using was not correct.
I still get funny potentiometer readings after pushing past needle 7 but still haven't tried stitching out design.

Hi all, any further advice on this? Why would my 12-needle machine be showing 17 on the M_NDL: setting and not be able to be changed without giving a 383 error?

If you are seeing needle 7 your potentiometer is blown. Ive seen it many times and actually asked customers if they see 17 so I know to bring along one

May have a broken rotary encoder, I would reboot the machine before spending any money

Thanks.
What do you mean by rebooting the machine?
What is the procedure for this?
