Talk to me about hiring

So my Dad has been in the silk screening / embroidery business for 30 years in the northern Virginia area. Throughout this time, as long as I can remember, he has had the same one lady running the embroidery dept. There are other machine operators she managed but she did ALL the digitizing and setting up the jobs. Long story short she is now gone and I have been trying to help him find a replacement! I have posted ads EVERYWHERE! Even offering a sign on bonus and gotten 1 response.... from Dubai... So I'm trying to figure this all out. Does everyone just outsource the digitizing and hire or train operators? Are there not "managers" or operators w/ digitizing experience to be found? Helping him find quality employees has never been easy. Screenprinters aren't easy to come by either but I find them eventually. This time I'm at a loss. Dad isn't very internet savvy so I need to help him get this figured out. Thank you in advance for any advice/ insight.

I'm sure we can. I think he just always had it in house and never needed to and that's what he was looking for again. The more I look into it the less plausible it seems!

i think most digitizers work for themselves. i'm sure there ARE digitizers out there looking for an in-house position, but i could see where that would be tough to find. if you really want somebody in-house you may have to hire somebody and then send them to training. it does take a long time tho to actually get good at digitizing. learning the software is the easy part. learning what works, what doesn't, etc. is by far the hard part.

if you need a digitizer in the meantime...i would say that you'll definitely have to farm them out for a while.

what kind of software do you use? it would be best to find a digitizer that uses your same software so that when you do find somebody for in-house, you would have the native files that could be easily edited, etc.

if you find somebody, i would be happy to take a look at their digitizing and offer suggestions.
