New issue here
We have a SWF - A-T1201 that is dripping oil onto our garments even after wiping down the equipment and decreasing (to the max) the oil-flow screw. :mad:
The oil drips when the head is inactive or right after a sew out. :eek:
This doesn't happen all the time and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. :rolleyes:
What we need to know is, is there a way to remove the oil stain from the garment after the damage has been done? What are we missing? Is there a way to insert an absorbent item somewhere in the sewing head? Any other suggestions? :confused:

This is just a guess, but are you oiling the top reservoir everyday? It is gravity fed and the vibration of the machine may be causing the excess oil to drip down on your garments. I think you are suppose to oil it every 2 million stitches or 5 days and that is about 4 drops. I may be wrong on the intervals.

It sounds like the machine is being over oiled. Only the bobbin area needs oil every 3-4 hours of running time.
To remove oil spots try baking soda or baby powder (let sit on item and brush off later) or a product like Goo Gone, Goop or Shout. A lot of people have sucess with Dawn Dishwashing Detergent. Sometimes a combination of products works such as baby powder then Dawn. Test first.

Thanks SunEmbroidery for the tips. We have tried using baking soda already, and we're going to get some Shout® or similar product to see if that works for us. We already know that by laundering the textile the oil is removed.
I also made a suggestion that we crank the oil flow from the reservoir all the way down then open it back up just a bit about a ¼ turn.
I'll get back to this thread if and when we find a solution.

The wick feed Auto Lube feature is a huge time saver for us! You just have to make sure you don't overfill it...
Now I am pretty sure that some of the SWF's had a oil fill line(maximum) that was improperly marked. You should contact SWF specifically and verify what the correct amount is, so you can just fill it to that point every week or two.(depending on use)

Thanks John...:) we cranked down the oil flow to ¼ turn and it seemed to work for quite awhile, then bam, we got another !@#$% drop of oil on one of our garments. :confused:
We've tried contacting SWF but the hold times are ridiculous so we gave up. :rolleyes:

Yeah I know what you mean. With every brand I have ever owned, I have always had to wait a while to get an answer, but SWF East has always been pretty fast to get a tech on the phone with me.
But as far as the oil goes imagine what would happen, if your towns "Water Tower", had twice the normal amount of water in it. Things would over flow somewhere, no matter how you adjusted the valves. Luckily you don't have the worry about any pipes rupturing, but it probably wont stop dripping until its drained down to the normal level.(assuming you over filled it)
Doesn't SWF Mesa's Service center give you the option to leave a message, and have a Tech call you back? I have never waited more than an hour or so and It sounds like this oil drip is costing you some money...
