Will Someone Tell Why My Stuff Won't Sell

United States

I've been trying to sell this stuff for about 2 months (Locally, Digitsmith, Ebay, Craigslist). Have had literally 100 people inquire about it (asking for pics, price, location). No buyer still. Its underpriced, they dont have to pay shipping (i'm covering that). I'm not understanding, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Being that you are asking $7000 for your used equipment and I did a quick search and add up everything you are selling to be $6700 NEW.....

Not sure where that total comes from, since I paid almost 8000.00 in Nov 2010

What you paid for it is of little concern to a buyer. What they will pay for it is of much concern to you. You asked why it won't sell, there is your answer. Used (even only once) is not brand new. 6 color manual press tops out at $2000 for anything other than a Chameleon. Just the way it is.

Not to offend you but you will be lucky to recover half of your investment. The startup equipment I bought used, Ryonet sells for over $9000 for the package new and I paid $4300 for it used and got more than what the package originally came with and was used very little.
Thats just how the used market is especially for starter equipment. If you had the V2000 press you probably would get a bit more than half.

All the above is true. Just like a car. Drive a $30k car off the lot, put 1000 miles on it and return the same next, see what the dealer offers you as a trade.
Your not selling the equipment, you are looking for the person who wants it for the right price.
I have a bunch of good used equipment up for grabs thats been sitting for 3 or 4 months now, just have to wait to find the person who is looking for it.

V1000 6-4 $2122 (internet screen supplies)
sleeve pallet - $100 (guesstimate from the price mine was)
DB130 - $1816 (internet screen supplies)
F Flash - $495 (tech support)
E1000 - $1295 (tech support)
VRS - $748 (tex source online)
5 Alloy 110 screens - $89.75 (victory factory)
2 16" squeegees - $42.90 (tech support)

Total $6708.65 NEW

There is not much that bothers me, but I really get upset when people are trying to sell their USED equipment for the same price or MORE than the price of NEW. But keep it posted for that GREAT price, I'm sure some sucker who just got into the industry will not know any better and you can sucker them in.

Ok.. but now you gotta get this stuff to you.. Shipping?? I'm not trying to rip anyone off. I am only asking 7000.00 because I'm covering the shipping. Anyone that has inquired about it knows they can come get it for 6000.00.. Which is me taking almost a 2000.00 dollar hit in 6 months.

Here is the thing. Most people here are seasoned screen printers who started out on equipment such as yours and are looking to upgrade. I started out on similar equipment as yours but I am looking to upgrade and would not consider buying entry level equipment anymore. Your best bet is craiglist, someone local and expect to get about 4K because that is just about what the starting printer is looking to spend and hopefully less than that. Put it on Ebay and see what happens. The last time I listed something there were no fees for anything. BTW thats where I found my 9K package http://www.silkscreeningsupplies.com/product/Prem64Pref for 4300 and there was no activity for it. I was the only bid and it was all in new shape and the guy threw in extras such as a many sets of extra platens, a small air compressor, a pressure washer, a screen rack, extra chemicals, extra ink and numerous Fast Art Cds. And took me and my wife out for lunch!

Good luck and I wish you well.

Ok.. I relisted a cheaper price thanks for the feedback

So now you are trying to sell your USED exposure unit for $200 MORE than the NEW price?????

I am going to try to put my used car up for sale for more than what the new price was.

Good luck F'ing someone.

I picked up a 6/6 along with everything else to get started for $3500. When it comes to used equipment, most people don't really care about brands or how old it is, price is what matters or they would be buying NEW. Justsayin.

Only a $2k hit on $8k worth of gear? You hope. Used gear is just that: used.

I bought a set up off Craig's List about 5 years ago for $2k. A very nice 6/6 press, mini dryer (Lil Buddy) vacuum exp unit, roller frames, squeegees, inks, 300 yards of nice mesh, flash dryer, etc etc. The entire shebang. It was barely used, maybe had 500 shirts total ever ran off it.

Sold the press for $2k. Sold the exp unit for $850. Sold the dryer for $1k. Flash for $350.

All were good deals to the people that bought it. My original deal that I paid was SMOKIN.

You have to know how much to pay and how much each can be sold for. Drop the price of each item to a reasonable amount (start with AT MOST 60-70% of new) and it will sell.

You mean he should not try to sell stuff for MORE than what it can be bought for new??? How is he supposed to make a profit?

You just don't understand super special screen printing capitalism. Buy new, use it, sell high.
