2007 Brother 1201c (12 needle)

Hello,

I have an opportunity to purchase a used 2007 brother 1201C single head (12 needle) machine that only has about 40 hrs on it. Problem is it takes a 3.5" floppy for designs and I am used to working on a newer PR600 that takes my USB jump stick. The price is really good for a 12 needle machine that is barely used, but I'm not sure how to get my PE Design embroidery designs from my computer to the machine...? I don't think they even make floppy disk drives anymore. Any advice?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

Like Soccer said above, floppy drives are easily obtainable, I got mine at Staples, and I think it was only like $25 bucks.

I'm not sure if commercial brothers are PES or DST file format. I would assume DST just because, but there are a million programs out there, that can do file conversion for you. Most of the basic programs are cheap, if not free.

There is a great one called Buzz Tools, its cheap (under $100) and handy as heck, and will do all your conversions and even write floppy disks as well.

Don't let the floppy drive scare you away from a good deal. As mentioned above, you can get an external floppy drive (hooks to computer via USB) for under $25 and floppy disks themselves are available in large lots on ebay (just a one buy-it-now lot for 100 disks, new, for $20, $10 shipping). I bought 250 still-sealed floppies at a garage sale for $2! The disks hold many designs, any size designs you will have, and I actually like the fact that I can have a seperate floppy for any given client/job/series.

Good luck.

You can get a floppy disk drive at just about any electronics store. Best Buy, Radio Shack, Circuit City, Office Depot etc. You could also try Ebay or Amazon.

the disk drives are available from embroidery supply companies. You might try using a USB to serial port adaptor and transfer direct from the computer. It works for my Toyota 850, which is 22 years old. Another thought, you can also try using an adaptor which is available at some sppliers to convert the floppy to USB. To find these items, just google them or look in embroidery supply websites.
