Adjusting width of running stitch Stitch Era Universal

Hoping someone can answer something that has kept me from being able to complete the digitizing of my graphic files. When using a running stitch for an outline I can adjust the length of the stitch, but not the width. Yet I have seen and purchased PES files that have wider running stitches. I have searched every where for an answer.

Thank you in advance!

Hey , you can't adjust the width of stich unless it was a backstich I didn't find the backstich nor the tripple stich in SEU , but you can repeat the path by adjusting the settings of path by increasing the repetition to 2 or 3 it would be kind of similiar to the tripple stich .

You can't make a running stitch wider (unless you use thicker thread). I think you have seen a backstitch outline, where the running stitch is sent back (and slightly offset) about half the length of the previous stitch. On my software I can use either a 3 or a 5 stitch backstitch, and change the offset value to make it slightly thicker.

If you run/redraw the purchased PES file on your software can you slow it right down to see how the stitching is done on those outlines?

Some emb. software call it a bean stitch. Bean Stitch: Three stitches placed back and forth between two points. Often used for outlining because it provides a bolder stitch appearance than a run stitch and requires fewer stitches than a satin stitch. The bean is sometimes referred to as the ‘bean walking’ because it is used as an outline.
Check your software for the term bean stitch.

You can do 3 running stitches on it. If that doesn't help then you are wanting a wider outline. So go for the skinny satin stitch instead but do it with less density so that way you'll have a cleaner outline. Hopefully this help.

I could not quite understand your problem. But I can ask my digitizers to find out the problem for you. Please send your design to my email: digitize_cn@yahoo.com I will ask my digitizer to edit it for you. No worry, just free!

Wish I could help you!

Thanks & Best Regards,
Vicky

Thank you for your responses. Alison the way you describe the backstitch is exactly what happens in the files. But for whatever reason i can not find that option to apply that type of stitch to my design :( Can i ask what software you use?

Thank you again!

I find people tend to look down on my software because it was developed for the home embroidery market - not the industrial market. I am using the Artista Designer6 Bernina software, and I use it for a domestic Bernina embroidery machine and ALSO for a 12 needle SWF compact. I am VERY happy with it, and it has a LOT of functions that surprise the "higher grade" software users.

I have never used any of the other software packages, so I can't help with your SEU. Maybe there is someone out there who still has the answer for you.
