Bes 1210ac

I am writing from Tanzania.is any one can assist me on this matter please
I have just bought used brother BES-1210AC embroidery machine. When I start up the machine, it starts quiet well up to file then! to 'reading /disk ' but it doesn't read.The light on the floppy disk drive illuminate but nothing goes on.After some time when eject the floppy diskette, it whistle up with 'disk error' display.I have also noted that the emergence stop button doesn't stop the machine as it should be.Is these have something to do with dip switches. At the back of the disk drive there some pins, is there any setting of these pins?
