We just finished re-building an older BWM Hopkins 6/4 with aluminum pallets, and we need to clean a heavy build-up of lint, grease, you name it, before we sell it. What's best for cutting through all this stuff?

Re: Cleaning Re-Built Hopkins
We have tried a lot of chemicals but the thing that works best for us is WD40

Goof off.
Re: Cleaning Re-Built Hopkins
Acetone use your Spot cleaning gun for hard to get spots.
Re: Cleaning Re-Built Hopkins
I'll try that and see if it cuts through all that stuff. Thanks.
Re: Cleaning Re-Built Hopkins
Xylene evaporates a little slower.. giving you more time to loosen the lint and adhesive.
Both acetone and xylene are highly flammable, so be very careful.
Re: Cleaning Re-Built Hopkins
Actually, we are using acetone in our spot gun now, I just never thought of it. Tried screen wash for some, but some this stuff is very old and tough. She'll be pretty when we're done. Thanks
