As a digitizer it seems I am often asking my clients if they offer thinner 60wt thread for fine details and small lettering within any given design. Most tell me that they do not, for budgetary reasons. But the ones that DO offer 60wt, WOW how their designs pop and they can handle more complexities as well as smaller lettering.
Is money the only reason? They all say they want quality, but yet they are not willing to meet digitizing in the middle to make it happen? Chances are if they are trying to match an embroidery done off-shore then they are trying to match a design at least partially sewn in 60wt.
60wt usually only comes in spools, not cones.... and I would think Black could handle 70% of what would be needed ... for detail and lettering... so is price really the only reason to not provide the best quality possible? what do you do in your own shops?

here it is nearly a year later and nearly every day we still run up against the same issue... lettering that really needs to be sewn in thinner 60wt thread to match the previous embroidery.. but for some reason clients think you can achieve 60wt quality with 40wt thread...???

I use 60 wt in my designs in several colors. And It doesn't cost anymore for the cones or spools than the 40 wt. I have found it in both cones and spools, however, the colors are a bit limited.
I agree that the designs do get more detail and really pop.

I keep it. In my opinion its a must. I do my own digitising and nearly always digitise the fine lettering for 60 thread. I also keep two needles on my machines specifically for these threads. ( 15 needle machines).
