I now have a couple more shirts for that job and asked to get a copy of the file from them in my DAT version (can you say OLD) well they sent me a DSTS file??? I can' t find anything! Is is just a DST file?? I need be able to convert it and have nowhere to start! They say it is the only form they can give it to me in. HELP!!!

Re: help!
A Dat file is for Barudan machiines. They can not be emailed, that is why you got a dst file.
I would try calling local embroiderers and maybe one of them will be kind enough to turn the dst file into a dat if they have the software. I can do it for you if you want. You would email me the dst and I will change it to barudan and mail it toyou. If you need it soon go the local route. Hope I've helped some.
Re: help!
Thanks I appreiate the reply. I had no idea that you could not email DAT files. Whenever I have outsourced something I have done, I have had to create a DST file within my software, because everyone elses machines run off teh DST format. I have someone here who has offered to convert it for me, but I don't know if he knows that it can't be emailed.
That would explain the really WEIRD files I got when we tried.
Thanks again, your information has been very helpful!!
Have a great day!!

Re: help!
what kind of machine are you using??
Re: help!
I have a very old Barudan 2 head (turret) machine. The program I run from runs off of DOS!! We are talking stone age here! Its a good machine, jsut way behind the times and started to show her age! Which is why we are really trying to look at getting a newer used machine. We are not in the position to buy new quite yet.
Down to two models... the Brother 416 and Tajima TMEX-C1201
Trying to get one before we go to DAX in a couple weeks.
We have a local Home Show the week after and would like to be set up in a booth!

Re: help!
I would try to contact Masis. 201-794-7303 or masis.com. They sell a design transfer system that may solve your problem. My son had an old barudan 12 head with no trimmers. He was able to use both dat and dst files with it. It might be worth the investment if the machine you are using now is running fine. Also check embroideryyellowpages.com. They have listings for all types of equipment and used software for sale.
