I Phone 5... you getting one?

Robert Young's picture

Anyone getting the I Phone 5? I skipped the 4s and think I will do the same with the 5... the one I have still works just fine and I don't see enough improvements to warrant the fee... anyone disagree?

Currently use the phone for sending images of designs to clients for approval... use Square on it for taking payments during trade shows, etc. Along with the usual internet, email and phone functions of course.

I love my Apples. I got the iPhone 4 and iPad 1 and don't feel the need to trade up just yet. Another year and the phone company will give me a new free iPhone. iPad doesn't have the camera being the first, but the phone does the job for that. In our house we have androids and Samsung, but really all want apple more... I do like the bigger screens on the samsung phone though.

People look like complete tools shooting video on an iPad.

I see it all the time and I'm like WTF!

ha, I don't have the IPad.. but I do use the Iphone for videos... would you recommend something else? It just seems so easy since it allows me to directly upload to youtube or facebook or wherever.

Got to say Samsung's commercials kick some a$$ mocking the iPhone stuff.

"we are gonna get that... well, maybe not this time but eventually..." LOL

How do you mean? Walking around in public using it like a cam corder or sitting in your home talking with someone on the other end? Reason i ask is because i use the camera on my Ipad all the time to take videos of my kids to share with my sister that lives abroad.

Robert, no the phone makes sense... it's small no big deal.

It's when I'm at events, like we do this "Rock Camp" every year (just finished putting together the dvd), we film it and make the dvd for the kids... my friends actually put it on.

But during the big finale concert there are always a couple of moms that are standing there with this big honking ipad filming their kid play drums or something.

Just seems like if you got the coin to throw at an iPad then I bet you could afford a decent hd video camera that doesn't make you look like a complete retard.

Mike, if you are picking it up quick around the house to shoot something, I guess I could see that... especially if it's spur of the moment. I have a DSLR and I don't break it out to snap a quick photo of the baby sleeping cuddled up to the cat... I just use my phone. But if you are going to an event that you KNOW you are gonna want to film something then bring the right equipment.

It's like trying to him up some pants with an embroidery machine... just because it CAN do it, doesn't mean you should. ;)

I have an Ipad2 the camera is absolutely useless unless in close quarters. Using it for indoors to post for your fam to see it works pretty scent, i dont own an actual camcorder but I do a DSLR camera, I dont waste batteries on videos with that thing.

Really?! I have the 50D so it doesn't have video but I wish it did.

Video with a DSLR is amazing! Main problem is that I would need two so I could shoot my ASA stuff... then again I think they have heat issues on extended shooting. I shoot for almost 2 hours non-stop.

The wife surprised me with a very early birthday gift of a Samsung Galaxy S3... pretty bada$$, also recommended.

The new maps in iOS 6 is pretty bad (google maps are gone and were excellent), Apple needs to hit the bricks and get mapping, learning how to spell, and finding lost towns and streets, can't believe they of all companies would release with so many shortcomings.

YouTube app is gone too, replaced by an ad laden app from google, also sux.

Guessing this is all a disagreement over money between companies, which is nothing new these days in the tech gadget market, everyone is suing everyone.

Ya from what I read map app was replaced because Google wanted to do ads in the map app. So far the maps have been good for me, but I assume there will be issues to come.

Youtube has its own stand alone app now which seems good.

For me the main issue I seen was fit and finish, Shellys phone came in with 3 scratches on the (very minor at the very top out of the display area), and 3 nicks in the bezzle on the left side, and a mark on the rear. It's not a big deal but still you expect a perfect phone when you buy.

Mine is a eos 60D me and my ex bought it together but she is the photographer not me, when we broke up I kept it since I paid mostly on it.

The video ets up the battery pack fast as hell! And I never bother hooking up the power plug, plus I don't have a tripod tho I should get one.

You need the big batter pack that plugs into the handle but mounts to the bottom.

Just saw why they have shitty maps and scratches on their "new" phones.

They are busy redesigning the shape of ear buds (head phones).

The new "VIP" folder in the email client is quaint. NOW, why can't I turn it OFF.

Will be interested in what MS brings to market in a tablet. I am praying it will work smoothly like an IPad but will play well with regular Windows OS and networks.

Maps I am sure will improve, they are hiring all of Googles people lol.

But there is no excuse for the scratches. Ridiculous actually.

When one buys a NEW product they should get a NEW product.

Would you buy a new car and be ok with a dent in the fender? F' that!
