I own a small, home based embroidery business in the northern CT area. I am looking for recommendations on who I should contact for contract embroidery work (I only have a single head machine right now). I am also looking for someone I can subcontract out orders for screeprinting, etc. Any recommendations? Anyone to stay away from? Quality and ability to meet deadlines are the 2 most important characteristics. Thanks.

Thanks - do you own these companies or do business with them? If you do business with them, what are their strengths/weaknesses? Thanks!
Re: Looking to build a relationship with a contract embroiderer
I would put together a list of questions and call a few contract decoraters in your area. I would ask about pricing (set-up, run, reprint), turnaround, type of artwork accepted, proofs, order minimums, drop ship to your customer, count in your order, keep your order information, will you deal with one person or different people, do they take vacation time and how long have they been in business. I would also want to know how problems are handled. For example, if your customer is unhappy with a print job because he claims the white ink isn't thick enough and the shirt color is bleeding through how is that handled? If you feel someone is a good candidate ask if you can visit their shop so you can view their work.
